One armed paper hanger

So now that we've bought the house we've been super busy. I never had to do this much in an apartment, and I guess that was part of the reason it took me so long to buy a house. I'm very happy to have the house, but kind of mixed about the chores that come along with it. I just have to keep telling myself, 'This is my grass I'm mowing' and somehow that will motivate me to finish. Also keeping me busy is repairs since it was a bit of a fixer upper. There are always little things to take care of. Perhaps I'll have some free time by 2014? A guy can hope.

So out of the pool of houses we looked at we've chosen one and put in an offer on it. Tuesday we got a response that they've accepted our offer. This is great news. Now all I have to do is figure out how I'm going to come up with all of this money they are asking for. I guess I'll be selling whatever I have of value. Wish me luck?

I am Jacks Paperwork

Friday I started the arduous task of digitizing all of my medical records and its been pretty slow going. The first hurdle is I have to decide if it is worthy of keeping, notes from the doctor, statements, etc. I'm also combining my 4 medical files into one single file. After I have all of this done I think I will take the time and combine all of the scanned documents into a single chronological PDF or something to keep it all complete. That way I can burn a CD if I want and have that handy whenever I need to go see a new specialist or what have you. This would really go a lot faster with a sheet fed scanner. Perhaps that is on my list of things to buy in the future. Hmmm.

Grass is always greener

So my fiancee and I have decided to start looking at houses. We have looked at about 8 so far. We will probably look at 8-10 more from the look of things. A friend told me that you have to look at 40 houses minimum before making your decision. Do you agree or disagree?

What a clever gift idea

I like to give homemade gifts more than something store bought. I feel that it adds a certain something, and when I saw this I thought I'd better share. Give your significant other a gift they can really appreciate. Or if you are a secret admirer and you are ready to let the secret out, make a Scratch Off Photo Valentine card. This doesn't just have to be for valentines day, its appropriate for whenever you want to give a unique photo gift.

Our cat likes plastic bags

I think Kolya likes plastic bags a little too much. Many times I've been woken by the sound of him chewing on them. Knowing that fish oil is used to keep them from sticking together helps me understand a little bit, but no matter what I try he won't break this habit. *sigh*

Stealing Light

A friend of mine suggested that I start reading book one of a trilogy, Stealing Light. He was very much in love with this series and he wanted me to experience this as well. I recently picked up the book and am now about halfway through. I have to be honest, it's been pretty great so far. It doesn't really stay with what I'm used to in most of the books I've read. The lead character keeps having these flashbacks but there isn't really any warning. I'll be reading the current storyline and the next thing I know I'm back in the past. I found it hard to follow at first but now that I'm expecting it I think I like it. Anyway, just wanted to let you know about this if you aren't yet aware.

my old blog died

so my old blog died due to issues with my migration. I decided to go with a cheaper solution. I didn't post that often anyway, so hopefully my 3 viewers will be able to cope. :) If it works out I'll be trying to recover old posts from the other blog.
