After a busy first year of homeownership I figured I catch up my blog. Got the house that we put the offer in for, but so far haven't done much to the place. We have many many plans that I hope to be able to capture for my blog. We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas in our new home and we recently got a dog. I think that I've never been happier. I love my wife so much.

So now that we've bought the house we've been super busy. I never had to do this much in an apartment, and I guess that was part of the reason it took me so long to buy a house. I'm very happy to have the house, but kind of mixed about the chores that come along with it. I just have to keep telling myself, 'This is my grass I'm mowing' and somehow that will motivate me to finish. Also keeping me busy is repairs since it was a bit of a fixer upper. There are always little things to take care of. Perhaps I'll have some free time by 2014? A guy can hope.

So out of the pool of houses we looked at we've chosen one and put in an offer on it. Tuesday we got a response that they've accepted our offer. This is great news. Now all I have to do is figure out how I'm going to come up with all of this money they are asking for. I guess I'll be selling whatever I have of value. Wish me luck?

Friday I started the arduous task of digitizing all of my medical records and its been pretty slow going. The first hurdle is I have to decide if it is worthy of keeping, notes from the doctor, statements, etc. I'm also combining my 4 medical files into one single file. After I have all of this done I think I will take the time and combine all of the scanned documents into a single chronological PDF or something to keep it all complete. That way I can burn a CD if I want and have that handy whenever I need to go see a new specialist or what have you. This would really go a lot faster with a sheet fed scanner. Perhaps that is on my list of things to buy in the future. Hmmm.

So my fiancee and I have decided to start looking at houses. We have looked at about 8 so far. We will probably look at 8-10 more from the look of things. A friend told me that you have to look at 40 houses minimum before making your decision. Do you agree or disagree?
